Renovations

If you are renovating, it’s a great opportunity to make updates in other areas. So, while you have us there to fit the new kitchen light fittings, how about we update the bathroom fan, or power sockets as well. Renovating is the perfect time to rewire, as walls often need to be opened whilst you’re insulating
Renovating is also the perfect time to upgrade your lighting to LEDs, which are 80% more energy efficient than traditional iridescent bulbs. They are also considerably safer than halogens, which can become very hot and have been known to cause fires.
Need cameras and security lights? We can help with this too.
Talk to us at the beginning of your renovation and we’ll come up with an electrical plan based on your requirements. We can also supply lighting fixtures and fittings of exceptional quality and are experts in lighting design!

LED Downlights

There are many benefits to upgrading your existing downlights to LED. You’ll save up to 80% on your lighting electrical bills, reduce waste and also increase the safety level of your home. Not only do new LED’s offer savings and environmental benefits, they will also instantly add a modern clean look to your home. You can choose from warm and cool tones depending on your area. Our lighting designer can create a plan to enhance the ambiance of your home.

Hot Water Cylinders

If your hot water cylinder suddenly stops working we can replace elements, thermostats and fuses to get you back up and running. We can also supply and install new cylinders, which are more efficient than older ones as they are better insulated.

Older Home Rewiring

We often find Kiwi homes that are older than 1970 need updating when it comes to wiring due to both age and also coping with the electrical demands of today’s technology. What you may notice is that wires are tripping, you are hearing buzzing sounds and you might experience power outages. These can signal that some urgent attention is needed.

Why rewire?

A home rewire will help prevent issues that can lead to malfunctions, fire and electric shock, it’s also a great opportunity to add any modern touches such as data, lighting control or security.
Once your home is rewired, it will be safer and future proofed for modern technology, and when you’re ready you’ll be able to upgrade your light fittings and use the lower watt LED bulbs. This eco-friendly upgrade will save you up to 80% on lighting costs.

Are you renovating?

As walls often need to be opened whilst you’re insulating or renovating, this is the perfect time to rewire your home.

As always, it is more cost effective for us to complete the whole house in one go. Of course, for any new wiring work we do, we will supply you with a Certificate of Compliance.

Renovating is also the perfect time to upgrade your lighting to LEDs, which are 80% more energy-efficient than traditional light bulbs.

They are also considerably safer than halogens, which can become very hot and have been known to cause fires.

Not if the job is based in the Howick, Botany Areas and Pakuranga areas. Because we’re based locally, we don’t charge locals a call-out fee. Costs are billed on a time and materials basis.

Here are four main reasons to choose a Master Electrician:

When you entrust your electrical services to a Master Electrician, you can be assured of the highest standards of workmanship.

1. Vetted & Trained

Master Electricians is a professional trade organisation that:

  • Assesses
  • Educates and
  • Supports its electricians to maintain industry best practices.

2. Tested

Members test their work against accepted benchmarks and provide their clients with official certification of works completed

3. Guaranteed

Master Electricians is the only organisation that automatically guarantees the workmanship of its members up to $20,000 on all residential work. So you have peace-of-mind that if on the off chance something goes wrong, you have the backing of a highly respected professional body.

4. Safe

Master Electricians take Workplace Health and Safety seriously; it forms a significant part of the organization's Quality Assurance programme. Safety is paramount in all trades, but especially ours as electricity poses a significant risk not just to electricians but occupants too. It’s vital all checks and balances are in place to protect people and property.

We do not recommend you carry out any electrical work yourself unless you are a certified professional. Even the most minor electrical work comes with risks.

So for the safety of yourself and others, and to avoid damage to your property, call 09 524 9600 and one of our experienced electricians will be happy to help.

An overloaded circuit is one of the most common reasons we encounter for blown fuses. If you have too many lights, appliances and electrical devices running at once it can overload the fuses capacity. When you experience repetitive blown fuses, it’s a sure sign that you are placing excessive demands on the circuit.

Try and isolate the cause of the tripping by turning all appliances off, and then turning each one on one-by-one.
If the fuse blows immediately when you try to switch it back on, turn off all the switches in the row first and then attempt to turn the fuse back on.

If the issue persists, it’s a good indication that there are too few circuits in your home and a service upgrade is required. Our experienced team can help with any repairs or rewiring you require, give us a call on 09 524 9600 today.

The second possible reason for blown fuses is a short circuit. These are typically the result of damaged wiring and loose wiring in your home or a wiring issue in an appliance connected to the circuit. If you cannot attribute the issue to a single appliance, it is most likely an internal wiring problem. In some cases blown fuses can be due to rats and mice chewing through the cabels.

We do not recommend you attempt to locate a short circuit for your own safety. Instead, call 09 524 9600 and one of our experienced electricians will be happy to help.

This depends on the type of bulbs you are currently using. The three other common types of bulbs are:

1. Traditional incandescents

These are virtually unchanged from the lamp patented by Edison in 1880! But they convert less than 5% of the energy they use into light, with the rest wasted on heat.

They also need replacing more frequently than LEDs, which last 15% as long. LED use 80% less energy to produce the same amount of light.

2. Halogen lamps

Halogen lamps are a type of incandescent bulb and are moderately more efficient than traditional incandescent bulbs. They’re estimated to be around 30 per cent more efficient. They’re most commonly found in the home as low voltage downlights and spotlights, and used as lamp bulbs. They are small and dimmable and produce light close to that of the sun. Halogen bulbs are seen as a bigger safety risk than modern LED bulbs as they reach higher temperatures, creating a fire risk if they come into contact with flammable materials. Recently they were the cause of a fire at an Auckland home.

3. CFLs

Compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) is a scaled-down version of the fluorescent tube lights found in offices and commercial buildings. They are much cheaper to run than incandescents, and last six times longer.

It takes a few seconds for them to reach full brightness and they tend to fade over time. Turning them on and off too often can reduce their lifespan.

4. LEDs

Then we have LED bulbs that are the most efficient and durable of the lot, and use up to 80 per cent less energy than incandescent bulbs while producing the same amount of light.

Most LEDs should last at least 15,000 hours – that’s more than 13 years if used every day for three hours. You can have a warm colour or a bright white colour. By replacing traditional incandescent lights and halogens with energy-efficient LEDs, you could save hundreds off your power bill a year. LEDs are also much safer than halogens which can reach scoring temperatures.
